“In the beginning, I was self-taught,” said Deborah Barnes. After several years, she says she got smarter and took classes and workshops, having studied under several master silversmiths. Barnes describes her art as fabricating sterling and 14 karat gold stating with the metal in a sheet or wire form and with the use of hand tools and traditional silversmith techniques.
Barnes was born in Kenton, Ohio and grew up in Mount Dora, Florida. She began her jewelry career in 1973 and has been designing, creating, and exhibiting since. She does approximately 35 shows per year and has been participating in the Leesburg Art Festival off and on since 1978.
Deborah’s work will be available for purchase at the Leesburg Fine Art Festival on Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6. You will find her on the South side of Main Street between 4th and 3rd Streets.
